Who is the occupational health physician?
Occupational health doctors are physicians who specialize in treating patients with work-related illnesses or injuries, and conduct the workplace management with health administrators. According to the regulations with the Japanese government the workplace where more than 50 workers are working must appoint an occupational health physician.
What do the occupational health physicians do?

| Health care include: |
General health check up.
Medical advice on lifestyle, recreation, treatment, and personnel transfer etc.
Make referrals to specialists when itfs necessary. Counseling on health, hygiene education, health education etc. |
| Work management include: |
Management and improvement of working environment.
Assess work-related physical hazards, and direct diagnoses and treatment accordingly.
Provide the employee medical guidance on general health problems in relation to the physical requirements of the job.
Labor health education.
Assess the cause of health hazards and prevention of recurrence of the hazards. |
